The carpet: a divider, an ephemeral wall, a definition of the spaces, but also a sacred threshold. The carpets of Mahmoud Saleh Mohammadi do not trample. For him art is a place of relationships and the artwork is a field of unstable forces. The carpets are his materials, symbolizing his origins and his home. He works on these using the Japanese technique kintsugi, used to embellish ancient or broken items. A poetic and utopian desire to represent the tension between chaos and order, between heaven and earth, between himself and the world.
